Where should I eat before a Cowboys game at AT&T Stadium?

For a sit-down dinner before a Cowboys game, Mercury Chophouse – Arlington is about 1.5 miles and a 5-minute drive from AT&T Stadium, on the ninth floor at 2221 E Lamar Blvd. One caveat matters: it is closed on Sundays. Plan it for Thursday, Monday or Saturday games, or the Friday and Saturday night before a Sunday game.

Start with the calendar

Most Cowboys home games kick off on Sunday, and Mercury Chophouse is closed on Sunday. That rules it out for a Sunday pre-game meal, and it is better to say so plainly than to have you find out at the elevator. Where it works well is the rest of the schedule: a Thursday night game, a Monday night game, a Saturday game late in the season, and the Friday or Saturday night before a Sunday kickoff, when you want the good dinner the night before and something quick on game day.

Hours are 11 AM to 9 PM Monday through Thursday, 11 AM to 10 PM Friday and 4 PM to 10 PM Saturday. The hours answer has the day-by-day table.

Is it walking distance? At 1.5 miles it is a real walk, roughly half an hour each way, and most guests drive or take a rideshare. The restaurant sits north of the stadium district on E Lamar Blvd, off the main stadium lots, so the drive in and out avoids the worst of the lot queues.

Kickoff-to-table timing

Allow about two hours at the table for a starter, a steak and dessert, then 60 to 90 minutes for the drive, stadium parking and the walk to your gate on a game night. Work backward from kickoff.

Parking and getting out

Guests park in the garage or the outdoor lot at the Brookhollow Two tower and ride the elevator to the ninth floor, Suite 910. Parking at the tower is free every evening. Leaving for the stadium, Lamar Blvd connects to Ballpark Way and the Nolan Ryan Expressway heading south into the district, and to Highway 360 about a mile east if you are coming from Grapevine or DFW Airport. Details are on the parking answer.

What to order when you are on a clock

Mention the kickoff time to your server as you sit down. Starters that arrive fast include the Filet Mignon Cigars at $17 and the Chophouse Calamari at $17. The 6 oz Center-Cut Filet at $62 is the quickest steak to the table; the 27 oz Wagyu Long Bone Ribeye at $210 is a share-and-linger cut better saved for the night before. Two people can share the Whipped Potatoes at $14 and the Broccolini at $17.

The dress code is business casual and lists athletic wear among the items not permitted, so wear a collared shirt over jeans and keep the jersey in the car. The longer pre-game dining page covers game-day groups and the Boardroom’s screen for a watch party on the nights Mercury is open.
