Three ways to order crab cakes
A crab cake can open the meal, be the meal, or ride on top of a steak at Mercury Chophouse – Arlington. The kitchen lists it in all three places on the dinner menu, and the price moves with the portion and the plate.
| Listing | Price | What comes with it |
|---|---|---|
| Crab Cakes, starter | $24 | Seared golden brown, lemon caper beurre blanc |
| Crab Cakes, entrée | $44 | Whipped potatoes, asparagus, beurre blanc |
| Jumbo Lump Crab Cake, enhancement | +$12 | Added to any steak or chop |
The starter is the version most tables see first. The entrée is for guests who came for crab and nothing else. The enhancement is the quiet favorite of steak eaters who want a little shellfish without committing to a full surf and turf. Ordering all three at one table is not unusual on a Friday night: a starter to share, an entrée for the guest who wants crab as the main, and a cake on top of a ribeye for the guest who wants both. Prices are from the July 2026 dinner menu; the current list is always on the HTML menu.
The starter, and the sampler that includes it
At $24 the starter crab cakes are seared until the outside is golden and finished with a lemon caper beurre blanc, a butter sauce sharpened with citrus and brine. It is a plate to share across two or three people before steaks arrive, and it pairs naturally with the warm bread and garlic butter the table receives.
Timing is worth a thought. The starter comes out ahead of the salads, so if you plan a Wedge at $18 or a Caesar at $16 before the steaks, tell your server to pace the courses rather than send everything at once.
If you want a taste of the crab cake alongside the other headline starters, the Land & Sea Sampler is $26 per person and puts a crab cake next to Chophouse calamari, a filet mignon cigar and the MCA shrimp cocktail. The rest of the starter list is on the appetizers page.
The entrée plate
The $44 Crab Cakes entrée arrives with whipped potatoes and asparagus and is sauced with beurre blanc. It is one of three seafood entrées on the dinner menu, beside the Cedar Plank Grilled Salmon at $48 and the Seared Sea Bass at $57, and it is the one guests choose when they want shellfish as the center of the plate.
Wine for the entrée leans white or light red. The list’s Pinot Noir section starts at $78 a bottle with the Ken Wright Willamette, and wines are poured by the glass and bottle; ask your server for a white by the glass rather than reaching for a Cabernet.
Because the entrée is a composed plate, the $25 split-plate fee applies if two guests want it divided in the kitchen. Ordering the starter for the table and a second side, such as Corn Risotto at $16, is the simpler way to share crab across two people.
Crab beyond the cake
Jumbo lump crab shows up in several other spots. The Gulf Shrimp & Jumbo Lump Crab Ceviche, $23, is brined in fresh citrus with avocado, onion, cilantro and tomato and served with lavash and a Sriracha and lime crème. Oscar Style Crab adds crab to any steak for $16. The Seared Sea Bass goes Imperial for $20 more with sautéed jumbo lump crab and grilled Gulf shrimp. The Salmon Mousse at $18 with house-made crostini rounds out the chilled seafood starters.
At weekday lunch, the Crab & Shrimp Louie salad is $24 and is the daytime way to get crab on the ninth floor. The wider seafood list, including the sister restaurant Hearsay – Arlington inside Choctaw Stadium, is covered on the seafood restaurant page.
When to come for them
The crab cake starter and entrée sit on the dinner menu, which is served every evening the restaurant is open: Monday through Thursday until 9:00 PM, Friday and Saturday until 10:00 PM, with Saturday service starting at 4:00 PM. The lunch menu, served weekdays from 11:00 AM, carries the ceviche, the shrimp cocktail at $17 and the Crab & Shrimp Louie rather than the cakes. Sundays the doors are closed.
Globe Life Field is about 1 mile away, so a crab cake starter and a steak before a 7 PM first pitch is a common weeknight order. Groups of six or more see a 20% gratuity on the check, and a table of 12 or more in the main room is presented with one check. Reservations are through OpenTable or 817-381-1157, and parking at the tower is free.

Frequently asked questions
How is the crab cake starter different from the crab cake entrée?
The $24 starter is the shareable version, seared and finished with lemon caper beurre blanc and no sides. The $44 entrée is a full plate with whipped potatoes, asparagus and beurre blanc, meant as one guest's main course. Both come from the same dinner menu.
Can I put a crab cake on my steak?
Yes. The Jumbo Lump Crab Cake is listed among the steak enhancements at $12 and can be added to any steak or chop, from the 6 oz filet at $62 to the Bone-In Ribeye at $90. It is the smallest-commitment way to get crab and beef on one plate.
Are crab cakes on the lunch menu?
The crab cakes themselves are a dinner-menu item. At weekday lunch, crab appears in the Crab & Shrimp Louie salad at $24 and in the Gulf Shrimp & Jumbo Lump Crab Ceviche at $23. Dinner service starts every evening the restaurant is open, and Saturday opens at 4:00 PM.
What sauce comes with the crab cakes?
Beurre blanc in both cases. The starter is finished with a lemon caper beurre blanc, and the entrée is served with beurre blanc alongside whipped potatoes and asparagus. If you prefer something sharper, the ceviche's Sriracha and lime crème is the other seafood sauce on the menu.
Is the crab jumbo lump?
The steak enhancement is named Jumbo Lump Crab Cake on the menu, and the ceviche and the Sea Bass Imperial both specify jumbo lump crab. The starter and entrée listings simply say Crab Cakes; ask your server if the grade matters to your order that night.
