Where on Lamar you will find it

E Lamar Blvd runs along the north edge of the Arlington Entertainment District, and Mercury Chophouse sits at 2221 E Lamar, on the top floor of the Brookhollow Two office tower. The Highway 360 interchange is about a mile to the east. Hurricane Harbor, at 1800 E Lamar, is about half a mile back toward the west.

If you are coming from I-30, the Ballpark Way exit puts you about a mile south of the restaurant. Head north, and Lamar is the cross street where the stadium district gives way to the office corridor. The tower is set back from the road with its own garage and outdoor lot, so you are not hunting for a space or feeding a meter.

Most people who search for restaurants on Lamar Blvd are either working in the offices along Lamar and 360, staying at a hotel in the district, or heading to a game. Mercury serves all three: a weekday lunch that starts at 11 AM, and dinner every evening from Monday through Saturday.

The building, the lobby, the elevator

First-time guests sometimes pause in the parking lot because Brookhollow Two looks like what it is, an office tower. That is the right building. Walk into the lobby, take the elevator to the ninth floor, and you will step out at glass doors lettered Mercury Chophouse, Suite 910.

Inside the doors is a glass-front wine wall, then the host stand, then the dining room. The room is long and wraps along a curved wall of floor-to-ceiling windows, with white tablecloths, leather chairs, tufted booths and crystal chandeliers. A grand piano sits by the windows near the marble-topped bar, and there is live piano on select evenings; ask which nights when you book.

There is free garage and outdoor parking at the tower entrance. Park in the garage or the outdoor lot and walk in.

What is close along Lamar and the cross streets

Lamar is a short drive from everything in the district. Distances below are from the tower’s front door outside event traffic.

Lunch on Lamar, weekdays from 11

The offices along Lamar and Highway 360 give Mercury a real lunch trade, and the lunch menu is priced for it. Sandwiches come with steak fries, a small salad or a cup of soup: Club Sandwich $14, Chicken Sandwich grilled or fried $15, Chophouse Burger $17, Marinated Steak Sandwich $19.

If lunch is the meeting itself, the entrées go further. Chicken Fried Steak with rye whiskey cream gravy is $24, Cedar Plank Grilled Salmon $24, Center-Cut Filet Mignon 6 oz $54, and the Wagyu London Broil with garlic and herb butter potatoes is $65. Salads run $15 to $24, with grilled chicken, shrimp, salmon or marinated skirt steak added for $10 to $16.

Lunch is served Monday through Friday only. Saturday opens at 4 PM for dinner, and the restaurant is closed on Sunday.

Dinner at the top of the tower

Dinner is where the address earns its reputation. The steaks are the center of the menu: Center-Cut Filet Mignon at 6 oz $62 or 8 oz $74, Hand-Cut Ribeye $75, Bone-In Ribeye $90 with Dijon butter, Dry-Aged 36 oz Porterhouse $175, and the 27 oz Wagyu Long Bone Ribeye at $210. Seafood includes Seared Sea Bass $57 and Crab Cakes $44.

Starters worth the table are the Signature Wagyu & Black Truffle Ravioli $34 and the Filet Mignon Cigars $17. Warm bread with garlic butter comes to the table. Parties of six or more carry a 20% gratuity, and composed entrées carry a $25 split plate fee.

Monday through Thursday the kitchen runs until 9 PM; Friday and Saturday until 10 PM, which gives a table after a 7 PM first pitch a place to land.

Event nights on this stretch of Lamar

Because the tower sits just north of the stadium district and off the main lots, arriving on a Cowboys, Rangers or concert night is simpler than at restaurants inside the district core. Leaving is simpler too: Lamar takes you straight to 360 or back to Ballpark Way without crossing the stadium exits.
