The private room at Mercury Chophouse – Arlington is lettered Mercury Board Room on its frosted glass door, and it is set the way a board table is set: one long table, chairs down both sides and the ends, a large screen at one end and windows down the other. It seats 8 to 20, which covers most boards, executive committees and leadership teams without an empty chair or a squeeze.
It also sits inside an office tower rather than a restaurant strip. Directors ride the elevator from the Brookhollow Two lobby to the ninth floor, the same way they would to any other office suite on E Lamar Blvd. The difference is what happens when the meeting ends: nobody has to relocate for dinner.
Meeting first, dinner second, same chairs
The common sequence is a late-afternoon session that turns into dinner. The restaurant is open from 11 AM Monday through Friday, so a 3 PM start on a weekday is inside operating hours, and the room can move from agenda to appetizers without anyone leaving. The AV system is built in, with a large screen sized for the whole table to read. It was installed so twenty people could watch a game together, and a financial deck at 4 PM is an easier job for it than a fourth quarter. Board conversations need a door, and this room has one. It closes on the main dining room, the live piano near the bar stays on the other side, and the frosted glass keeps the table from being read from outside. Parties of 10 or more are subject to a food and beverage minimum based on party size, and a 20% gratuity is added to parties of 6 or more. Directors flying in
DFW Airport is about 12 miles north on Highway 360, roughly 15 to 20 minutes outside rush hour, and the 360 interchange with Lamar Blvd is about a mile east of the tower. A director landing at 4 PM can be in the room by 5. The Loews Arlington Hotel is about 0.6 mile away for those staying over, and there is free garage and outdoor parking at the tower for anyone driving from Fort Worth, about 17 miles, or Dallas, about 20.
