The night before, at one table

A rehearsal dinner is the one wedding meal where both families sit down together before anything has gone right or wrong. The Boardroom at Mercury Chophouse – Arlington puts them at a single long table for 8 to 20, behind a door that closes, with the sun going down over the Entertainment District through the windows. Nobody is at the kids’ table and nobody is across the room; the father of the bride and the groom’s grandmother are twelve feet apart at most.

Wedding parties of 21 to 28 use the semi-private arrangement in the main dining room, which keeps everyone together but without the closed door. If the guest list is still moving, tell the events team both numbers and they will hold the right option.

Which night: Thursday, Friday or Saturday

Most Arlington weddings are on Saturday, which makes Friday the rehearsal dinner night, and Friday is a full evening here: open from 11 AM until 10 PM. A Friday wedding pushes the dinner to Thursday, when the restaurant closes at 9 PM. A Sunday wedding is the one to plan carefully, because the natural rehearsal night is Saturday, when service begins at 4 PM, and the restaurant is closed on Sunday itself.

Free garage and outdoor parking at the tower helps when grandparents are arriving in their own cars. On a Thursday, guests park in the garage or the outdoor lot at the tower and take the elevator from the lobby to Suite 910.

Toasts, the screen, and the slideshow

The Boardroom has an integrated AV system with a large screen at one end of the table. At a rehearsal dinner it carries the slideshow of the couple at age six, the video message from the cousin stationed overseas, or nothing at all. Tell the events team on the inquiry form whether you plan to show something and how you will connect, and it is confirmed in the proposal.

Toasts work at this table without a microphone. Twenty people at one table can hear the best man from the far end, and the closed door means the rest of the ninth floor does not have to.

A dinner both families will remember for the right reasons

Menus for the room are tailored, and for a rehearsal dinner the events team typically builds a set menu with a choice of entrées so the host is not reading twenty orders off a spreadsheet. The dinner menu offers a 6 oz Center-Cut Filet Mignon at $62, Cedar Plank Grilled Salmon at $48, Chicken Saltimbocca at $42 and Tortellini Bolognese at $32, which between them cover most of a wedding party’s preferences. Dessert can be the Italian Cream Cake at $17 or the Strawberry Cake at $17, and an Espresso Martini is $17 for the guests who plan to stay up.

Warm bread with garlic butter arrives at the table, the piano plays in the main room on select evenings, and the events team will tell you the sunset time for your date. The private dining menus page explains how a set menu is priced and quoted.

The rehearsal dinner answer page gives the short form of the same facts for a family comparing venues in one evening.

Out-of-town guests staying in the district

Wedding guests booked at the Loews Arlington Hotel or Live by Loews are about 0.6 and 0.9 mile away, a three-minute drive to the tower at 2221 E Lamar Blvd. Guests coming from DFW Airport have about 12 miles down Highway 360. The hotel dinner page lists the district hotels with distances. If the couple wants the restaurant for the wedding itself and the guest list is small, the small wedding reception page is honest about what fits and what does not.

Frequently asked questions

Can the bride's and groom's families each pay for their side of the rehearsal dinner?

The Boardroom presents one check, so one host settles it and the families arrange the split between themselves afterward. That is the same rule for any party of 12 or more in the main dining room. A 20% gratuity is already included for parties of 6 or more, which removes one argument from the evening.

Can we bring our own rehearsal dinner cake or favors?

The website does not publish a policy on outside desserts or favors. Ask on the inquiry form and the events team will answer in the proposal. The dessert list includes an Italian Cream Cake and a Strawberry Cake at $17 each if you would rather not carry a cake up nine floors.

Is the rehearsal dinner room suitable for children and elderly guests?

The room is a seated dinner at one table, reached by elevator from the lobby. It is quiet and the door closes, which suits older guests. For young children, mention ages on the inquiry form so the menu and seating can account for them.

Can we see the Boardroom before we book the rehearsal dinner?

Ask on the event inquiry form or call 817-381-1157. Visits are not published as a standing service, but the room is behind a frosted glass door off the main dining room and easy to look at during a lunch or dinner reservation, which is how many couples first see it.

What time should a rehearsal dinner start to catch the sunset from the room?

Sunset in Arlington is about 8:15 PM in May, 8:35 PM in June and July, 7:35 PM in September and 7:00 PM in October. Seating an hour before sunset puts the light change over the first course. In November and December, sunset is around 5:30 PM, so an early seating or city lights are the choices.
