Decide the head count, then the room
The dinner is the one part of a bachelor or bachelorette weekend that has to work. The rest of the night can improvise. So settle the number first, because at this restaurant the number decides where you sit and how the bill arrives.
| Party size | Where you sit | Gratuity | Check |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2 to 5 | Bar or main dining room | Standard | Ask your server |
| 6 to 11 | Main dining room | 20% added | Ask your server |
| 8 to 20 | The Boardroom, private, one long table | 20% added | One check |
| 12 or more, dining room | Main dining room | 20% added | One check |
| 21 to 28 | Semi-private | 20% added | One check |
The Boardroom is the wedding-party answer for most groups: a private room behind a frosted glass door, a single table so nobody is at the far end of a second one, a large screen with integrated AV for the slideshow somebody has definitely made, and a panoramic view of the district. Details are on the private dining page; the inquiry form gets a reply within 48 hours.
What is on the bar list
The cocktail book is long enough to carry a table for an hour before the steaks arrive. A selection, with prices:
| Drink | What is in it | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Steakhouse Old-Fashioned | Tallow-washed Knob Creek bourbon and rye, Fonseca port | $19 |
| MCA Smoked Manhattan | Old Bardstown, Dolin sweet vermouth, Angostura, smoke | $18 |
| Naked & Famous | Banhez mezcal, Aperol, yellow Chartreuse, lime | $19 |
| Margarita on the Rock | Wild Common blanco, lime, agave | $20 |
| Hibiscus Ranchwater | $17 | |
| Ladies First | Wheatley vodka, lemon, berry coulis, rosé bubbles | $16 |
| Bubbly Husband | $17 | |
| MCA French 75 | $17 | |
| Arlington Cosmopolitan | St George citrus vodka, Ferrand dry curaçao | $17 |
| Espresso Martini | Classic or contemporary | $17 |
For a whiskey table, the list runs about 40 American bottles from Buffalo Trace at $14 to Booker’s at $42, with Blanton’s at $38, Weller 12 at $18 and three Texas distillers including Garrison Bros. Small Batch at $23, plus Hibiki Harmony at $32 and Johnnie Walker Blue at $79, all 2 oz pours. Draft beer is $7 to $8. The full lists are on the cocktails page and the bourbon and whiskey page.
Read the dress code before the group chat does
This is the section to screenshot and send. The dress code is business casual and management can decline entry for anyone who misses it. For the guys: long pants, tailored trousers or unripped jeans; collared shirts and sports coats encouraged; graphic T-shirts, baseball caps, beanies, athletic wear, hoodies and sweatpants prohibited; flip-flops and slides too casual. For the group in sashes: stylish separates or a tasteful dress; jeans without rips welcome; avoid excessively revealing clothing; yoga pants, loungewear and flip-flops too casual.
Cowboy hats are welcome and come off once you are seated. Jacket and tie are not required. Matching shirts are fine as long as they have a collar and no graphic across the chest. If the plan is a district bar crawl afterward, dress for dinner and loosen up later.
The bill, and who is holding the card
Three policies shape the check. A 20% gratuity is added to every party of 6 or more. Groups of 12 or more in the dining room, and any group in the Boardroom, receive one check with no splits. Parties of 10 or more meet a food and beverage minimum based on head count, quoted in the written proposal after you submit a request. There is also a $25 fee to split a composed entrée between two guests.
The practical arrangement is one card, collected from the group beforehand or settled up after. The organizer who tries to run twelve cards at the end of a Saturday night is the organizer who misses the last stop.
Ordering for a table that wants a show
Some of the menu is built for a long table. The 27 oz Wagyu Long Bone Ribeye at $210 arrives on the bone with crispy onion strings and Dijon butter and feeds more than one; the Dry-Aged 36 oz Porterhouse at $175 does the same. The Land & Sea Sampler at $26 per person opens the meal with calamari, a filet mignon cigar, a crab cake and shrimp cocktail for everyone at once, and the $9 sauce flight of rye whiskey cream, demi-glace and béarnaise gives a table something to argue about. Individual orders work too: the 6 oz Center-Cut Filet Mignon at $62, the Hand-Cut Ribeye at $75. To close, the shaken ice cream cocktails, a Brandy Alexander at $18 or a Grasshopper at $17, are the dessert and the last drink in one glass. The steak for two page covers the large cuts.
Booking, and the district after dinner
For the Boardroom, submit the private dining request with the date, head count and the fact that it is a wedding party; the reply and proposal come within 48 hours. For a smaller group, book through OpenTable or 817-381-1157. Saturday doors open at 4 PM and close at 10; Friday runs 11 AM to 10 PM; Sunday is closed, which rules out a Sunday send-off dinner. Texas Live! is about 0.8 mile south for the rest of the night, and the car is a short walk away when you are ready to move on.

Frequently asked questions
Can the groom wear a cowboy hat to dinner?
Yes. Fashionable and cowboy hats are welcome under the dress code; the rule is that they come off while seated in the dining room. Baseball caps and beanies are a different matter and are not permitted at all, so the hat has to be a real one.
Can the group run a bar tab separate from the food?
The restaurant has not published a separate-tab policy. For groups of 12 or more, and for any Boardroom booking, one check is presented covering everything. For smaller parties, ask your server when you sit down. The simplest plan is one card for the night.
Does Mercury Chophouse offer a bachelor party package or bottle service?
No package is published. Boardroom and semi-private menus are tailored to each group, which can include a set menu and drinks arrangement built for the party. Describe what you want on the private dining request and the proposal will price it.
Can we decorate the Boardroom for a bachelorette dinner?
The restaurant has not published a decoration policy. Ask on the event inquiry form what is allowed on the table and in the room; the reply within 48 hours will say. Keep in mind the room is behind a frosted glass door and shares the floor with a fine dining room.
What time should a Saturday bachelor dinner start?
Saturday doors open at 4 PM and close at 10 PM. A 6:30 or 7 PM table gives about two and a half hours for a long dinner and still gets the group into Texas Live! or the district before the night is over. Book that slot early; Saturday evenings fill first.
