The weekend, meal by meal

A getaway weekend in Arlington usually means a Friday arrival, a Saturday in the district and a Sunday drive home. The restaurant’s hours line up with two of those three days, and the third needs a plan. Here is the shape of it.

Friday: arrive, park, the window

Drive in on I-30 from Dallas or Fort Worth, or down Highway 360 from DFW Airport, check in, and come to Lamar for dinner. The Brookhollow Two tower has a free garage, and the outdoor lot is right there. The elevator to the ninth floor opens near the glass-front wine wall, and the dining room’s curved window wall faces the district.

Friday is the night to book for sunset, which falls around 8:35 PM in June and about 5:40 PM in January. On select evenings a pianist plays the grand piano by the windows near the bar. Start with the Land & Sea Sampler at $26 per person, then the Bone-In Ribeye at $90 or the Seared Sea Bass at $57, and finish with a Carajillo at $17. Friday dinner tables go early on Rangers and concert weekends, so book when you book the hotel.

Saturday: the district by day, dinner from 4 PM

Saturday belongs to the district. Six Flags Over Texas is about a mile from the restaurant and Hurricane Harbor about half a mile along Lamar. The National Medal of Honor Museum, which opened in 2025, is about 1.6 miles away by AT&T Stadium, and the Arlington Museum of Art is in the district on Ballpark Way, about 0.6 mile. A Rangers day game or a stadium tour fills the afternoon.

The restaurant opens at 4 PM Saturday, dinner only, and runs to 10 PM, so the choice is an early table with daylight over the parks or a late one, seated at 8 or 8:30, after the district’s evening starts. A late Saturday table is the slower meal: the Dry-Aged 36 oz Porterhouse at $175 for two, a bottle from the wine wall, and a Kopke Colheita port at $48 to close. Sunday: plan around the closure

Sunday is the day this restaurant cannot help you, and it is better to know Friday than to find out at noon. The ninth floor is closed every Sunday, including holiday and game weekends. If Sunday is a Cowboys home game, the district will be full and every open restaurant in it will be too, so a Sunday reservation somewhere should be made before the weekend starts.

The sister restaurant, Hearsay – Arlington, sits inside Choctaw Stadium about 0.7 mile away with a seafood menu and a Prohibition-era room; it keeps its own hours, so check them directly rather than assuming. Or make Sunday the drive-home brunch somewhere along I-30 and let Friday and Saturday carry the weekend’s two big dinners.

Where to stay so dinner is close

The district hotels put the restaurant within a few minutes. Loews Arlington Hotel, connected to the convention center, is about 0.6 mile and 3 minutes; Live! by Loews at Texas Live! is about 0.9 mile. From either, a rideshare is a short hop and the drive back after a Steakhouse Old-Fashioned is one you should not make yourself anyway. What to pack

One dinner outfit each. The dress code is business casual: unripped jeans or trousers with a collared shirt for men, a dress or stylish separates for women, closed shoes. Leave the baseball caps, hoodies, athletic wear and flip-flops for the park. A sports coat is encouraged but a jacket and tie are not required. Pack a cowboy hat if you like; it is welcome at the door and comes off at the table.
