For a visitor, Mercury Chophouse – Arlington makes its case on location and the room: a ninth-floor steakhouse about 20 miles from Dallas and 17 from Fort Worth, with a curved window wall over AT&T Stadium and Globe Life Field. The steak list opens with a 6 oz filet at $62 and ends with a 27 oz Wagyu Long Bone Ribeye at $210.

How a visitor should judge a steakhouse
Every big city in the Metroplex has steakhouses, and a visitor with two nights cannot try them all. Four questions sort them quickly. What is on the grill, and at what weight and price? What is the room like, and can you see anything from it? Where is it relative to your hotel, your meeting and your evening? And who owns it: a national group, or someone who lives in the city and answers for the place?
Mercury Chophouse – Arlington is the answer we can speak to. The sections below take those four questions in order, with numbers rather than adjectives, so you can compare it against a chain steakhouse in Dallas or Fort Worth on the same terms.
The cuts, by weight and price
The dinner menu lists eight steaks and chops. The two Wagyu cuts and the dry-aged porterhouse are the ones visitors ask about most.
| Cut | Weight | Price | Served with |
|---|---|---|---|
| Wagyu Long Bone Ribeye | 27 oz | $210 | Crispy onion strings, Dijon butter |
| Dry-Aged Porterhouse | 36 oz | $175 | Bone marrow confited shallots |
| Wagyu Filet | 8 oz | $105 | Herbal compound butter |
| Bone-In Ribeye | $90 | Dijon butter | |
| Hand-Cut Ribeye | $75 | ||
| Center-Cut Filet Mignon | 6 oz / 8 oz | $62 / $74 | Herbal butter |
| Double-Bone Pork Chop | $59 | Thyme-onion-bacon jam | |
| Espresso-Rubbed Elk | $85 | Whipped potatoes, broccolini |
Enhancements run from a $4 sauce to Oscar Style Lobster at $20. The Wagyu page covers the two Wagyu cuts in detail, and the full list is on the HTML menu.
The room, ninth floor, Suite 910
The dining room is the top floor of the Brookhollow Two office tower on East Lamar Boulevard. A curved wall of floor-to-ceiling windows wraps the main room, and below it sit AT&T Stadium, Globe Life Field, Hurricane Harbor and the tower at Six Flags Over Texas. The sun sets to the west and southwest across that view, at 8:35 PM in June and about 5:25 PM in December.
Inside: white tablecloths and linen napkins, leather chairs, tufted booths under a blue-lit banquette wall, crystal chandeliers, a marble-topped bar with a full back bar and TVs, a glass-front wine wall at the entrance and a grand piano by the windows near the bar, played on select evenings. Behind a frosted glass door is the Boardroom, a private room seating 8 to 20 at one long table with its own AV system and screen.
A chain steakhouse in a Dallas or Fort Worth tower may have a skyline. This room has both stadiums, the park and the sunset in one frame, from a table.
Between Dallas and Fort Worth, not in either
Arlington sits in the middle of the Metroplex, which is the point for a visitor who has meetings on both sides or a hotel near the airport. Drive times below are outside rush hour and event traffic.
| From | Miles | Minutes |
|---|---|---|
| Downtown Dallas | about 20 | 25 |
| Downtown Fort Worth | about 17 | 22 |
| DFW Airport | about 12 | 15 to 20 |
| Irving / Las Colinas | about 13 | 18 |
| Grapevine | about 13 | 18 |
| Southlake | about 15 | 22 |
| Grand Prairie | about 6 | 12 |
I-30 runs east to Dallas and west to Fort Worth about a mile south of the restaurant; Highway 360 runs north to DFW Airport and Grapevine about a mile east. For a group split between the two downtowns, this is the meeting point, and the between Dallas and Fort Worth page lays out that case.
Owned by someone who lives here
Mercury Chophouse is not part of a group. It was founded by Jim Ross, who grew up in Detroit, served in the U.S. Marine Corps, moved to Arlington in 1983 and spent years as an Arlington Police Department officer before leaving in 1996 for law school and founding the Jim Ross Law Group in the city. He also owns Hearsay – Arlington, the seafood restaurant inside Choctaw Stadium about 0.7 mile away.
The site describes Mercury as the first premier steakhouse in the city, and that origin shows in small ways a visitor notices: warm bread with garlic butter at the table, a manager on the floor, a wine list with Texas port beside the Fonseca and Kopke. The independent versus chain page goes further on that distinction.

Frequently asked questions
Is Mercury Chophouse independently owned?
No. It is an independent restaurant founded and owned by Jim Ross, an Arlington resident since 1983 and a former Arlington police officer. Its only sibling is Hearsay – Arlington, a seafood restaurant inside Choctaw Stadium under the same ownership.
Does Mercury serve a tomahawk steak?
The menu names it the 27 oz Wagyu Long Bone Ribeye, at $210, served with crispy onion strings and Dijon butter. It is the long-bone cut most people mean when they search for a tomahawk. It is sized to share, and a $25 split plate fee applies to composed entrées.
What does a steak dinner for one cost at Mercury Chophouse?
A 6 oz Center-Cut Filet Mignon is $62, shareable sides run $11 to $18, and desserts are $15 to $17, before drinks, tax and gratuity. The Wagyu cuts and the 36 oz porterhouse sit higher, at $105 to $210. A 20% gratuity is added for parties of 6 or more.
Will I see the stadiums from my table?
The curved window wall faces the Entertainment District, and AT&T Stadium, Globe Life Field and the Six Flags tower are in the view. Window tables are not guaranteed; note the request on your reservation and the host will do what the evening allows. The Boardroom has its own panoramic view for groups of 8 to 20.
Is it worth driving from Dallas or Fort Worth for dinner in Arlington?
Downtown Dallas is about 25 minutes east on I-30 and downtown Fort Worth about 22 minutes west, outside rush hour. For a visitor staying near DFW Airport or Las Colinas, the drive is under 20 minutes. Pair it with a Rangers game, a concert or the National Medal of Honor Museum and the trip makes itself.
