Pre-Concert Dinner Near AT&T Stadium

Mercury Chophouse – Arlington is about 1.5 miles, a 5-minute drive, from AT&T Stadium, on the ninth floor of the Brookhollow Two tower at 2221 E Lamar Blvd. For a show that starts at 8 PM, a 5:30 PM reservation gives you a full dinner and time to reach the stadium before the opener. Closed Sundays.

Concert nights run on a different clock

A game has a kickoff. A concert has doors, an opener and a headliner, and the three can be spread over three hours. Before you book dinner at Mercury Chophouse – Arlington, look at the ticket and decide which of those times you actually care about. Most people want to be inside for the headliner and are content to hear the opener from the concourse.

AT&T Stadium is about 1.5 miles from the restaurant’s front door at 2221 E Lamar Blvd, a 5-minute drive on an ordinary evening. Concert traffic is heavy and builds late, so the leave-by times below carry a cushion.

Weeknight shows come with one more constraint: the restaurant closes at 9 PM Monday through Thursday, so a 6:30 PM table is the latest that gives a full dinner. Friday and Saturday run to 10 PM. Give your server the show time when you sit down and the courses will land on it.

What to wear when you are going on to a show

The dress code on the ninth floor is business casual, and it applies on concert nights the same as any other. In practice that means jeans without rips are fine for everyone, collared shirts are encouraged for men, and graphic T-shirts, baseball caps, hoodies and athletic wear are not admitted. Flip-flops and slides are too casual. Cowboy hats and other fashionable hats are welcome through the door and come off once you are seated, which matters on a country night. The dress code page has the full list.

If the concert outfit will not pass, wear something that does to dinner and change after. Management reserves the right to refuse entry for non-adherence, and a concert night is a poor time to test that at the host stand with a reservation waiting.

Parking and the trip over

Mercury is on the ninth floor of the Brookhollow Two office tower, and the tower’s garage and outdoor lot are where you park. It sits north of the district, off the stadium lots, so getting in for dinner does not mean joining the concert traffic early. Parking at the tower is free, which helps on the nights most stadium shows land on.

From the lot, E Lamar Blvd leads to Ballpark Way and the Nolan Ryan Expressway heading south to the stadium, or to Highway 360 about a mile east if you prefer to come at it from that side. A rideshare from the tower is the simplest way to avoid parking twice; the parking page walks through both choices.

One thing to know for after the show: the restaurant will be closed by the time the encore ends, so this is a before-the-show dinner, not a bookend.

A dinner that holds through a three-hour show

Stadium food is a long walk from the seats, and a headliner set can run past 11 PM. Eat properly here first; a starter, a main and a shared side is the right amount, and warm bread with garlic butter arrives before any of it.

Parties of six or more carry a 20% gratuity, and the $25 split-plate fee applies to composed entrées, so two people sharing a short rib should expect it on the check. The complete menu is online.

Shows at Globe Life Field, and Sunday shows

Globe Life Field hosts its own run of major concerts under the retractable roof, and it is closer still, about 1 mile and 4 minutes from the tower. The timing works the same way with a shorter drive; the Globe Life Field concert page has its own table.

Sunday shows are the exception to all of the above. The restaurant is closed on Sunday, so the pre-concert dinner becomes a Saturday night dinner, open from 4 PM to 10 PM, and a long lunch is not available that weekend either. The visitor dining guide lists the rest of the week.

Frequently asked questions

My ticket says doors at 6 and show at 7:30. When should I book?

Book 5 PM if you want to be inside for the first act, which puts you leaving the ninth floor around 6:30 PM for the 1.5-mile drive. If the headliner is all you care about and they go on closer to 9, a 6 PM table on a Friday or Saturday works; on a weeknight remember the 9 PM close.

Can I wear a cowboy hat to dinner before a country show?

Yes. Fashionable and cowboy hats are welcome under the dress code; the one rule is that they come off while you are seated in the dining room. Baseball caps are a different matter and are not permitted. Boots and unripped jeans are fine.

Is there a fixed-price pre-concert menu?

No pre-concert menu is published. Concert-night guests order from the regular dinner menu, which runs from a $17 starter to the 27 oz Wagyu Long Bone Ribeye at $210. Tell your server the show time when you sit down so the courses land on schedule.

Will Mercury still be open when the concert lets out?

No. Stadium shows end well after the restaurant's closing time, which is 9 PM Monday through Thursday and 10 PM Friday and Saturday. Plan dinner before the show and drinks elsewhere after it. The bar keeps the same closing hours as the dining room.

How full is the restaurant on a stadium concert night?

Full. Concert nights at AT&T Stadium and Globe Life Field are among the busiest evenings of the year on the ninth floor, and the 5 to 6:30 PM window goes first. Reserve as soon as you have tickets, through OpenTable or by phone at 817-381-1157.

How early can we get a table on a Saturday concert night?

Four o'clock. Saturday is dinner only, with the doors opening at 4 PM and the room running until 10 PM. For a 7 PM Saturday show, a 4 or 4:30 PM table is the right call. On Friday and weekdays the restaurant opens at 11 AM, so an earlier start is possible.
