Irving and Las Colinas sit north and east of Arlington, and the drive to Mercury is about 13 miles and 18 minutes outside rush hour. Highway 360 south to the E Lamar Blvd exit is the direct approach; the Brookhollow Two tower is about a mile west of the interchange, with free garage and outdoor parking on site.

The airport line matters for a Las Colinas host: a colleague or client landing at DFW can be at the table in 20 minutes, without going through Dallas.

The business dinner that does not happen in a hotel restaurant

Las Colinas has plenty of places to hold a working dinner in a hotel. Mercury offers something different: a private room on the ninth floor of an office tower, with the Arlington stadiums through the windows behind the table.

The Boardroom seats 8 to 20 at one long table, with semi-private arrangements up to 28. It has a fully integrated AV system and a large screen, so a deck runs before the steaks arrive. One check is presented for the room. A food and beverage minimum applies and is quoted with the written proposal, and private dining menus can be tailored to the group. What a Las Colinas host should know before booking

The dress code is business casual, which means guests can come straight from the office: collared shirts and sports coats encouraged, unripped jeans fine, athletic wear and baseball caps not permitted. Expect a 20% gratuity on the check for six or more guests, and a $25 fee for each composed entrée the kitchen splits between two plates. Reservations for the dining room go through OpenTable or 817-381-1157.

Hours shape the calendar. Monday through Thursday the restaurant is open 11 AM to 9 PM, Friday 11 AM to 10 PM, and Saturday 4 PM to 10 PM. It is closed on Sunday, so a Sunday-night kickoff dinner needs a different venue; Monday works. Weekday lunch in the Boardroom is an option from 11 AM.

One more practical point: the tower is just north of the stadium district and off its main parking lots, so a dinner on a Rangers night or a Cowboys Thursday is workable. Guests park on site and leave by Lamar to Highway 360, which is also the road home to Irving, without touching the stadium exits. The parking page has the details.

Ordering for a client

For the table, the Land & Sea Sampler at $26 per person brings calamari, a filet mignon cigar, a crab cake and shrimp cocktail without anyone choosing. The Signature Wagyu & Black Truffle Ravioli is $34. For mains, the 8 oz Center-Cut Filet Mignon is $74, the Dry-Aged 36 oz Porterhouse is $175, and the Seared Sea Bass with corn risotto is $57, or $77 Imperial with jumbo lump crab and Gulf shrimp.

The wine list gives a host room to signal: The Prisoner at $85, Cain Five at $248, Quintessa at $525, Opus One 2022 at $686. On the whiskey side, Blanton’s is $38 and Hibiki Harmony $32, and a half-ounce of Louis XIII is $150 if the deal closed. The wine page lists more.

For a group that wants the kitchen to decide, private dining menus in the Boardroom are tailored to the party and quoted with the proposal, which removes the ordering from the evening entirely.

Not only for business

The same drive works for an Irving couple on a Saturday. The dining room follows a curved wall of floor-to-ceiling windows over AT&T Stadium, Globe Life Field, the Six Flags tower and the hotels, with sunset through the west end and a grand piano by the glass on select evenings. Saturday service is 4 to 10 PM, and reservations are recommended.

Rangers and Cowboys nights bring the district to life below the windows; Cowboys home games are mostly Sundays, so aim for the Friday or Saturday before, or a Thursday or Monday game. For a seafood evening, the sister restaurant Hearsay – Arlington is inside Choctaw Stadium, less than a mile away.
