The bar is marble-topped with a full back bar, and a seat there before dinner is the easiest way to take the edge off a first date or a fortieth. The cocktail list leans toward drinks that are easy to hand across: Ladies First ($16) is Wheatley vodka, lemon, berry coulis and rosé bubbles; the Strawberry Negroni is $17; the MCA French 75 is $17. On the darker side, the Steakhouse Old-Fashioned ($19) is built on tallow-washed Knob Creek bourbon and rye with Fonseca port, and the MCA Smoked Manhattan ($18) arrives under smoke. The Land & Sea Sampler ($26 per person) brings Chophouse calamari, a filet mignon cigar, a crab cake and the MCA shrimp cocktail on one plate. The Filet Mignon Cigars on their own are $17. A Wedge ($18) with applewood-smoked bacon and Gorgonzola splits cleanly.
For mains, one steak and one fish is a good pairing: the Hand-Cut Ribeye ($75) next to the Cedar Plank Grilled Salmon ($48) with its teriyaki glaze, or the Chicken Saltimbocca ($42) wrapped in prosciutto and sage. Do not skip dessert here; the after-dinner list is half the reason to come. The shaken ice cream cocktails are the date-night move: a Golden Cadillac Eldorado ($18), a Cafe Helado ($17) or an Apple Pie à la Mode ($18). An Affogato is $8 if you want something smaller.
