Not Sunday. Saturday.

Father’s Day lands on the third Sunday of June, which in 2027 is June 20, and Mercury Chophouse – Arlington is closed on Sundays without exception. So the Father’s Day steak happens on Saturday, June 19, when the ninth floor opens at 4 PM for dinner and serves until 10, with free parking at the tower. Friday, June 18 is the other choice, with lunch from 11 AM and dinner to 10 PM. Holiday weekend hours are confirmed each year and are not published ahead of time, so call 817-381-1157 before you settle on a time. If Dad prefers a weeknight with a quieter room, Monday through Thursday of that week runs 11 AM to 9 PM.

Toppers for a man who wants the steak louder: a Cajun Sear or an Espresso Rub for $3, a Gorgonzola Crown for $14, or the Sauce Flight of Rye Whiskey Cream, Demi-Glace and Béarnaise for $9. The bone-in ribeye page and the steak dinner page go cut by cut.

The whiskey

The back bar holds about 40 American whiskeys, about 20 from Scotland, Ireland and the rest of the British Isles, and a short Japanese shelf, all poured at 2 oz. The Texas bottles are the ones to point Dad toward: Garrison Brothers Small Batch at $23, Ironroot Harbinger at $20, Lost Pines at $14. Further up the shelf sit Weller 12 at $18, E H Taylor at $19, Elijah Craig Barrel Proof at $26, Blanton’s at $38 and Booker’s at $42. On the Scotch side, Macallan 12 is $30 and Lagavulin 16 is $28; Hibiki Harmony is $32 if he drinks Japanese.

If he wants it mixed, the Steakhouse Old-Fashioned ($19) uses tallow-washed Knob Creek bourbon and rye with Fonseca port, the MCA Smoked Manhattan ($18) comes under a cloud of smoke, and the Paper Plane is $18. The list is subject to availability; ask your server what is open. The bourbon and whiskey page has the longer shelf.

The game

June is baseball season, and Globe Life Field is about a mile down the road. The bar has TVs above the back bar, so a father who wants to keep an eye on the Rangers can do it from a bar stool with a whiskey before the table is ready. For a family that wants the game with dinner, The Boardroom seats 8 to 20 at one long table with a fully integrated AV system and a large screen, and it is booked through the private dining request with a food and beverage minimum quoted in the proposal. The private watch party page explains how that works. One caution: if the Rangers are home on Saturday, June 19, the district roads fill early. Mercury sits north of the stadium lots on E Lamar Blvd, so the drive in is easier than it is for restaurants inside the district core.

Friday lunch instead

For a father who would rather eat at noon, Friday, June 18 opens at 11 AM with the lunch menu. The Chicken Fried Steak ($24) comes with whipped potatoes and rye whiskey cream gravy. The Wagyu London Broil ($65) is served with garlic and herb butter potatoes and haricots verts. The Marinated Steak Sandwich is $19 with steak fries, the Chophouse Burger is $17 and builds to order, and the Bone-In Ribeye is $82 at lunch against $90 at dinner. The daytime window view takes in the ballpark, the Six Flags tower and the stadium.

For the father who has everything

An eGift card sold through Toast lets him pick his own night, and the balance is checked at the same site. For a bigger family dinner, six or more guests carry a 20% gratuity, ten or more meet a food and beverage minimum, and twelve or more receive one check. The dress code allows a cowboy hat on the way in, but it comes off at the table, and ball caps, hoodies and athletic wear stay home. Jeans without rips are fine.
