Where a large party sits
Mercury Chophouse – Arlington has three answers. Groups of six to roughly a dozen sit in the main dining room, at tables along or near the curved window wall on the ninth floor. Groups of up to 28 can be seated semi-privately, still within the dining room but set apart. And groups of 8 to 20 can take the Boardroom, a private room behind a frosted glass door with one long table, a fully integrated AV system, a large screen and the room’s own panoramic view of the district.
The Boardroom also has the practical feature large parties need most: a door. Toasts, a presentation on the screen or a long dinner that runs past the rest of the room’s pace all happen without an audience. The private room for 20 and semi-private dining pages describe each option.
How the check works
One check means one check. For 12 or more in the dining room and for every Boardroom group, the server presents a single bill, so the organizer should plan to settle it on one card or collect from guests beforehand; what the restaurant will not do is split it at the table. The 20% gratuity at six or more is added before you see the total, so there is no need to add a tip on top unless you choose to. If two guests share a composed entrée, $25 is added for the second plate. Sales tax applies as usual.
For a sense of scale, a party of eight ordering an 8 oz filet each at $74, two shared sides (whipped potatoes $14, broccolini $17) and two shared starters (calamari $17, filet mignon cigars $17) would run $657 in food before drinks, then about $131 in gratuity on that portion.
How to book a group
Parties of six to nine can book through OpenTable or by calling 817-381-1157. Parties of 10 or more, and anyone who wants the Boardroom, should use the event inquiry form, which asks for date, time, headcount and the occasion; the restaurant answers within 48 hours with availability and a proposal. Book early for Friday and Saturday nights and for any Cowboys, Rangers or concert date, when both the room and the district fill.
Say what kind of evening it is. A retirement dinner for 14, a client group of 10 watching the Rangers and a family of 20 celebrating a graduation are seated and served differently, and the proposal is written around the answer. Include any dietary needs and the time you must be finished if a game or a flight follows.
Menus for large groups
In the main dining room, large parties order from the regular à la carte menu, and a few dishes are built for a table. The Land and Sea sampler at $26 per person brings calamari, a filet mignon cigar, a crab cake and shrimp cocktail for everyone; every side is portioned to share, from whipped potatoes at $14 to grilled asparagus at $18; and the 27 oz Wagyu Long Bone Ribeye at $210 and the dry-aged 36 oz porterhouse at $175 are meant for more than one fork. Large parties on game nights
The Boardroom was built with watch parties in mind; the restaurant’s own description is that the screen is for cheering on the Rangers and Cowboys in their own backyards. A group of 12 can eat through a 7 PM first pitch with the game on the wall and the stadium lights visible through the window. For a group that wants to see the stadiums rather than the screen, the main dining room’s curved window wall looks down on Globe Life Field, AT&T Stadium and the Six Flags tower, and the one-check rule at 12 or more applies there too.
