Where Mercury sits in the district

The Arlington Entertainment District is a tight cluster of stadiums, hotels, parks and a convention center packed between I-30 and E Lamar Blvd. Mercury Chophouse – Arlington sits at the north edge of it, on the ninth floor of the Brookhollow Two office tower at 2221 E Lamar Blvd, Suite 910. You park at the tower and ride the elevator up from the lobby.

That position is the whole point. Every major venue is a few minutes away, but the tower is off the main stadium lots, so you are not sharing an exit lane with the crowd. Here is how the district lays out from the front door, in normal traffic.

What the ninth floor shows you

The main dining room is wrapped in a curved wall of floor-to-ceiling glass. From a table beside it you can pick out the Six Flags Over Texas tower, the roof of Globe Life Field, AT&T Stadium and Hurricane Harbor, with the district skyline filling the gaps between them. The Boardroom at the back of the room has the same panorama behind its long table.

The glass faces west and southwest, which is why sunset is the room’s signature. In September the sun drops around 7:35 PM; by December it is closer to 5:25 PM, so a 5 PM winter reservation catches the whole thing. A grand piano stands by the windows near the bar, and there is live piano on select evenings. Call 817-381-1157 to ask which nights.

Getting in and out on an event night

Game and concert traffic in the district is heavy, and it builds well before the gates open. Lamar Blvd connects to Highway 360 about a mile east and to Ballpark Way and Nolan Ryan Expressway heading south into the stadium core, so you can approach from either direction without threading through the lots. I-30 is about a mile south at the Ballpark Way exit.

Parking is a garage and an outdoor lot at the tower, both free. Reservations are strongly recommended on Cowboys and Rangers dates and on concert nights; book on OpenTable or by phone. Hours are 11 AM to 9 PM Monday through Thursday, 11 AM to 10 PM Friday, 4 to 10 PM Saturday, and closed Sunday, which rules out most Cowboys home games. The parking details are on the parking page.

What is on the table

This is a chophouse in the traditional sense: steaks and chops first, seafood second, white tablecloths, and warm bread with garlic butter to start. The signature cut is the 27 oz Wagyu Long Bone Ribeye at $210, served with crispy onion strings and Dijon butter. The Center-Cut Filet Mignon is $62 for 6 oz or $74 for 8 oz, the Bone-In Ribeye is $90, and the Dry-Aged 36 oz Porterhouse is $175 with bone marrow confited shallots.

Away from beef, the Seared Sea Bass is $57 over corn risotto, and the Filet Mignon Cigars at $17 are the starter regulars order first. Lunch runs weekdays from 11 AM with sandwiches from $14. The full menu is on the site, and a 20% gratuity is added for parties of six or more.

The Boardroom for a district watch party

Behind a frosted glass door lettered Mercury Board Room is a private room with one long table for 8 to 20 guests, a fully integrated AV system and a large screen. Semi-private seating extends to 28. The restaurant describes the room as built for watch parties, and the district’s two home teams play within two miles of that screen.

Boardroom groups receive one check, a food and beverage minimum applies to parties of 10 or more, and inquiries go through the event inquiry form with a reply within 48 hours. There is a dedicated page on private watch parties if that is the plan.

Two rooms, one owner

Mercury’s founder, Jim Ross, also owns Hearsay – Arlington inside Choctaw Stadium, about 0.7 mile south. Hearsay is a fine seafood house with a Prohibition-era feel; Mercury is the steakhouse with the view. Between the two you can cover a full weekend in the district without leaving the family.
