Half a mile from the galleries

The Arlington Museum of Art has moved into the Entertainment District, on Ballpark Way near the Arlington Convention Center. Mercury Chophouse – Arlington is about 0.6 mile from it, on the ninth floor of the Brookhollow Two office tower at 2221 E Lamar Blvd. The drive is a couple of minutes: north on Ballpark Way, which runs as Nolan Ryan Expressway through the district, to E Lamar Blvd, then east to the tower. Check the museum’s own site for its exact street address and hours before you set out.

Park in the tower’s garage or its outdoor lot at no charge, and take the elevator from the lobby to Suite 910. Guests coming from farther away reach Lamar from Highway 360 about a mile east or from I-30 about a mile south at the Ballpark Way exit.

An afternoon of art, then a room built for looking

After a few hours in the galleries, the ninth floor is a natural next stop, because the dining room is a thing to look at too. The first sight past the glass doors is a glass-front wine wall. Beyond it are crystal chandeliers, tufted booths under a blue-lit banquette wall, leather chairs, white tablecloths, a marble-topped bar with a full back bar, and a curved wall of floor-to-ceiling windows that frames the Six Flags Over Texas tower, Globe Life Field, AT&T Stadium and Hurricane Harbor. A grand piano sits by the windows, with live piano on select evenings.

The windows face west and southwest, so the sunset is the second exhibition of the day. Book about 45 minutes before the times below to watch the whole thing from the table.

Weekend timing: Saturday yes, Sunday no

Museum visits cluster on weekends, and Mercury’s week ends on Saturday. Hours are 11 AM to 9 PM Monday through Thursday, 11 AM to 10 PM Friday, and 4 to 10 PM Saturday, with the restaurant closed every Sunday. A Saturday afternoon at the museum followed by a 5 or 6 PM dinner on the ninth floor is the natural pairing; a Sunday visit means the dinner moves to Saturday night.

On weekdays, the lunch menu runs from 11 AM, so a morning in the galleries can end with the Crab & Shrimp Louie at $24, the Blackened Fresh Catch Tacos at $17 or the 6 oz Center-Cut Filet Mignon at $54. The lunch page has the full list.

Small plates and a glass, or the full dinner

A post-museum table does not have to be a three-course commitment. The Salmon Mousse at $18 with house-made crostini and the Caprese Salad at $18 with heirloom tomato and burrata make a light early dinner with a glass from the wine wall, which pours by the glass and bottle. Cocktails run in the same spirit: the Ladies First at $16 with berry coulis and rosé bubbles, the Flight Delay at $16 with Citadelle gin, maraschino and violette, or the Strawberry Negroni at $17.

For the full dinner, the Signature Wagyu & Black Truffle Ravioli at $34 opens, the Center-Cut Filet Mignon at $74 for 8 oz or the Seared Sea Bass at $57 follows, and the Italian Cream Cake at $17 or an Affogato at $8 closes. A 20% gratuity is added for parties of six or more, and composed entrées carry a $25 split plate fee.

Museum groups and member dinners

For a docent group, a members’ outing or a family that toured together, the Boardroom seats 8 to 20 at one long table with a large screen and a fully integrated AV system, and semi-private seating extends to 28. One check is presented, a food and beverage minimum applies to parties of 10 or more, and the event inquiry form is answered within 48 hours. The room’s window carries the same district view as the main dining room.
