Why eat here first
Texas Live! is loud by design. It is a dining and entertainment complex built for crowds, screens and a show, and that is the right way to spend the second half of a night in the district. It is a harder place to have the first half: a conversation, a steak that arrives at the right temperature, a glass of something from a real wine list.
The ninth floor on Lamar is the opposite room. White tablecloths, leather chairs, tufted booths under a blue-lit wall, crystal chandeliers and a curved window wall that looks down on the district you are about to drive into. Dinner takes 90 minutes, the check comes, and Texas Live! is 3 minutes away. The quiet restaurant page explains why the room stays at conversation volume even on event nights.

Show times at Texas Live! vary by venue and act, so take the time from your ticket or the listing and count back. The table below assumes 90 minutes at dinner and 30 minutes to pay, get downstairs, drive and get inside.

Two constraints from the restaurant’s side. Saturday doors open at 4 PM, so a 5 PM Saturday table is the first hour of service. And the restaurant closes at 9 PM Monday through Thursday and 10 PM Friday and Saturday, so a 10 PM show on a weeknight means dinner at 7 and a drink at Texas Live! in between. Getting between the two
The restaurant sits on East Lamar Boulevard, the district’s northern edge, in an office tower with a free garage and a free outdoor lot. Texas Live! is about 0.8 mile south at 1650 E Randol Mill Rd, beside Live! by Loews. Lamar connects to Ballpark Way and the Nolan Ryan Expressway heading south into the district, and Randol Mill runs across it.
Outside event traffic the drive is 3 minutes. On a Rangers night or a concert night at either stadium, the district roads carry the stadium crowd too, and the same drive can take 15. The restaurant has not published a policy on leaving cars in the tower lot while you are at Texas Live!, so plan to park at the complex or take a rideshare between the two. What to order before a show
Order like someone with somewhere to be. Starters that come fast: Crab Cakes at $24 with lemon caper beurre blanc, the Wedge at $18 with applewood-smoked bacon and Gorgonzola, or the Salmon Mousse at $18 on house-made crostini. Mains that fit a 90-minute table: the Hand-Cut Ribeye at $75, the Seared Sea Bass at $57 over corn risotto, or the Chicken Saltimbocca at $42. Add a sauce for $4; the chimichurri is the one that travels well with a ribeye.
For the drink, the cocktail book has one written for the occasion: the Flight Delay at $16, Citadelle gin with maraschino, violette and lemon. Wine is by the glass and bottle. Skip the second round, since the complex will have its own, and take a coffee at $4 instead. Mention the show to your server; the kitchen makes no timing promises, but the pace changes when they know.
Dress for both halves
The dress code here is business casual and enforced: no baseball caps, hoodies, athletic wear, graphic T-shirts or flip-flops, and cowboy hats off at the table. The good news for a Texas Live! night is that the same outfit works in both places. Unripped jeans, a collared shirt or a dress, and closed shoes pass the host stand here and look right on the concourse there. Do not plan to change in between; there is nowhere to do it.

If the show is early, the order can flip. Friday and Saturday the restaurant is open until 10 PM, so an early set at Texas Live! can end at a late table on the ninth floor: dessert, an Espresso Martini at $17 or a Carajillo at $17, a port from $12, and the district lit up below the window wall. Do I need a reservation before a Texas Live! event?

Can I stop at the bar for one drink before a show?
Yes. The marble-topped bar has a full back bar, TVs and the full cocktail list, from a Steakhouse Old-Fashioned at $19 to a Paper Plane at $18. The restaurant has not published a walk-in policy for bar seats, so call ahead on event nights rather than counting on an open stool.
